Having a family’s support in planning a proposal means everything—but one dad has gone above and beyond.
A video posted to TikTok by Julia Locilento (@julialocilento) went viral for revealing a series of photos of her father simulating a proposal to find the perfect spot for her sister’s fiance to pop the question. Since the clip was posted on May 6, it has received 2 million views and over 202,000 likes. “My sister’s fiance asked my parents to check out potential proposal spots,” she captioned the video. “My dad put in the work.”
In the video, Locilento’s father kneels on one knee opening an invisible ring box in a variety of settings: on rocks, under an architectural structure, on a wooden bench and several times by the sea. He is grinning in each photo.
Viewers in the comments praised her dad for taking on the task so enthusiastically. When commenters asked Locilento why her sister’s fiance wasn’t checking out the spots himself, she said that the man lives a few hours away from the area, and her parents had offered to help.
“That’s how you know you are marrying into a solid family,” @agirlnamedjack wrote.
“These need to be printed and framed and placed around their wedding venue,” @jmazza86 posted. “Absolutely adorable. Dad is a green flag.”
“No, but this is A+ work. The assignment was understood,” @shyyyyy_maybe commented.
Some even had their own stories of heroic fathers to share: “My dad stood in for me to check out the ceremony venue, and I got a photo of him standing at the altar holding hands with my husband,” @jm7103 wrote.
It isn’t the first time Locilento’s dad has proved adorably enthusiastic on the internet.
In a video from December 2023, Locilento posted a video of her father holding her child and gazing out of a window. “POV [Point of view]: My dad has three daughters and his first grandbaby is the little boy he never had,” she captioned the video, which received nearly 5 million views.
While viewers don’t know which spot her sister’s fiance chose in the end, they certainly had their minds made up about their favorite photos. Many preferred the locations that included both rocks and the sea.
And while dad got most of the accolades, it turned out to be a group effort; in the comments, Locilento pointed out that her mom was the one taking the photos.
