Going under anesthetic isn’t easy, but it can have hilarious consequences on some occasions. A man has recently unlocked viral fame because of his such reaction to the drug after a shoulder surgery.

Viewers watched the man, who appeared in a video shared on his wife’s TikTok account (@aceashleymoss), get so disoriented after the procedure that he completely forgot that he was married in the first place. He showed hazy delight after learning that the “pretty” woman sat beside him was indeed his wife.

“What are you doing here,” the man says after his wife asks him how he is. The video had been filmed inside the couple’s car, in what appeared to be the hospital’s parking lot.

“I’m picking you up from your shoulder surgery,” she responded. “You wanna go home and get some rest?”

“You know where I live?” Her husband responded.

“I know where you live, I live with you. I’m your smokin’ hot wife,” she said.

Her husband then asked: “We got married?”

His wife confirmed that they did, and he told her, with wide eyes, that she was “so pretty.”

What Do The Comments Say?

The video has left viewers in hysterics since it was first shared on the platform on March 12 with the caption “My hubby under [anesthesia] for shoulder surgery. We’re married?”

More than 4.7 million users have watched the video to date, and it has attracted more than 9,000 comments. TikTokers gushed over the man’s sweet response, declaring that it revealed the true nature of their relationship.

One TikToker wrote in the comments: “Coming from a PACU nurse, post anesthesia emotions reveal a person’s true personality. You’ve got a sweetie there!”

A different user wrote: “I’m scheduling surgery so my husband tells me I’m pretty.”

“I think they released him a little early,” another TikToker joked.

“He fell in love with you all over again,” a commenter said.

How Does Anesthesia Work?

The Cleveland Clinic defines anesthesia as “the use of medications (called anesthetics) to keep you from feeling pain during procedures or surgery.”

The nonprofit medical center says, “Anesthetics temporarily block sensory signals from your nerves at the site of the procedure to the centers in your brain.”

There are a few different kinds of anesthesia including local and general, the latter of which can leave you fully unconscious.

Anesthetic drugs can stay in your system for up to 24 hours. People can experience all kinds of side effects after it has been administered, from feeling lightheadedness and drowsiness to losing awareness and experiencing differing levels of consciousness.
