Donald Trump’s niece has announced she is writing a memoir regarding her “twisted family” and her “killer” uncle.

Mary Trump is a frequent and fierce critic of her uncle Donald. She recently derided him for remarks regarding a “bloodbath” if he doesn’t win the 2024 presidential election and criticized his “violent and offensive” rhetoric during recent campaign speeches. However, she appears to be taking the fight to bookshelves once again after penning her third book about the Trump dynasty.

Who Could Ever Love You is an “intimate, heartbreaking memoir of a father, a mother, and a family’s exile,” according to Mary Trump’s latest Substack post. The book will detail her experiences growing up in America’s most-controversial family under the banner of Fred Trump, her grandfather, and his “relentless drive for money and power.”

“The daughter of Freddy Trump, the highly accomplished, dashing eldest son of wealthy real estate developer Fred Trump, and Linda Clapp, a flight attendant from a working-class family, Mary lived in the shadow of Freddy’s humiliation at the hands of his father,” the post reads.

“Fred Trump embodied the ethos of the zero-sum game and among his five children, there could only be one winner. That was supposed to be Freddy, his namesake, but Fred found him wanting—too sensitive, too kind, too interested in pursuits beyond the realm of the real-estate empire he was meant to inherit. In Donald, Fred found a kindred spirit, a ‘killer,’ who would stop at nothing to get his own way.”

The description describes Fred Trump as the “patriarch” of the “twisted family” who “ignored, froze out, and eventually destroyed his own,” referring to his eldest son, Freddy.

Donald Trump is yet to publicly comment on the announcement. Newsweek has contacted him via the contact form on his website for comment outside of normal working hours.

Mary Trump’s father and Donald Trump’s brother, Freddy, died aged 42 in 1981 from a heart attack caused by his alcoholism. His death resulted in his brother inheriting the family business.

The former president has previously spoken about his memories of his brother, who was an airline pilot and maintenance worker. “He was a great guy, a handsome person. He was the life of the party. He was a fantastic guy, but he got stuck on alcohol,” Trump told People in 2015. “And it had a profound impact and ultimately [he] became an alcoholic and died of alcoholism. He would tell me, ‘Don’t drink ever.’ He understood the problem that he had and that it was a very hard problem.”

Published by St. Martin’s Press, Who Could Ever Love You will be released on in the U.S. on September 10, 2024.
