Born in Massachusetts, Perry grew up in Ottawa, Canada, and rose to international stardom on Friends, which remains one of the most popular TV series of all time.

He was found dead in his hot tub at about 4 p.m. local time (7 p.m. ET) at his Los Angeles home. Local authorities said foul play was not suspected and an investigation into his cause of death is ongoing, according to The Los Angeles Times.
