A photograph of Melania Trump seated on a plane with the caption “she knows” has gone viral after it was shared the night before her husband Donald Trump’s Stormy Daniels hush money trial began in New York.

The enigmatic post was uploaded to social media by the former first lady’s one-time friend and aide, Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, her first hire after Donald Trump’s 2016 election victory. Winston Wilkoff has frequently shared her thoughts on the Trumps since stepping down from her post, following controversy around the funding of Donald Trump’s inauguration.

On Sunday—the eve of jury selection for Donald Trump’s criminal trial beginning in New York City—Winston Wolkoff shared the photo of the former model seated aboard an aircraft. In an accompanying caption, she took a swipe at Melania Trump and her husband, who is the presumptive GOP nominee for the 2024 election.

“I sat across from Melania Trump on her airplane and took this photograph on my iPhone.” Winston Wolkoff wrote. “Believe me, she knows … She and he are one in the same.” As of press time, the post has garnered more than 2 million views.

It was not clarified in the post exactly what Melania Trump purportedly “knows.” Newsweek has contacted a representative of Donald Trump’s campaign via email and Winston Wolkoff via social media for comment.

In February 2018, Melania Trump cut ties with Winston Wolkoff after news broke that her event planning company, WIS Media Partners, received $26 million to help coordinate Donald Trump’s inauguration.

Winston Wolkoff wrote in her 2020 book, Melania and Me, that she resigned because the Trump administration scapegoated her. She has denied claims that she received $26 million, countering that she was paid a fee of $1.6 million.

Winston Wolkoff made similarly critical comments about Melania Trump when she commented on video footage of her erstwhile friend standing alongside Donald Trump at a fundraiser in Palm Beach, Florida, earlier this month.

“Looks like Melania Trump is about to dive head first into a pool of sharks & nobody’s going to protect her,” she tweeted. “I was the only life guard on duty when she was First Lady.

“She chose to live a life in a minefield, where every step is treacherous & never sure when it might explode. She and he are one in the same.”

Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to 34 felony counts of falsifying business records in relation to so-called “hush money” he arranged for his then-lawyer, Michael Cohen, to pay adult film star Stormy Daniels to keep an alleged affair she had with the former president a secret ahead of the 2016 election. Trump denies having an affair with Daniels.

In a post on his Truth Social platform on Monday morning, Donald Trump branded the proceedings in New York a “witch hunt” aimed at stopping him from winning the 2024 election.

“As virtually every legal scholar has powerfully stated, the Biden Manhattan Witch Hunt Case is, among other things, BARRED by the Statute of Limitations. This ‘trial’ should be ended by the highly conflicted presiding Judge,” he wrote.

“The Radical Left Democrats are already cheating on the 2024 Presidential Election by bringing, or helping to bring, all of these bogus lawsuits against me, thereby forcing me to sit in courthouses, and spend money that could be used for campaigning, instead of being out in the field knocking Crooked Joe Biden, the WORST President in the History of the United States. Election Interference!”

While the payment of hush money for a non-disclosure agreement is not illegal per se, the case against Donald Trump has focused on the way the former president recorded the expense—allegedly falsifying business records, which Trump denies.

Daniels said on her podcast, Beyond the Norm, in January that she was “set to testify” during the trial.
