A set of six of Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan’s NBA Finals-worn shoes broke a global auction sale record on Friday.

“The Dynasty Collection” sold for $8,032,800, which is a new record for game-worn shoes, according to Sotheby’s.

The collection of six shoes included one shoe from each of the years in which Jordan and the Bulls won the NBA title: Air Jordan VI (1991), Air Jordan VII (1992), Air Jordan VIII (1993), Air Jordan XI (1996), Air Jordan XII (1997) and Air Jordan XIV (1998). Jordan was named NBA Finals MVP title each of those years.

The identity of the buyer has not been released.

The collection exists because of the foresight of former Bulls public relations director Tim Halland, who asked if Jordan would give the team a shoe from the 1991 NBA Finals if the Bulls won the series. Jordan then did so over the duration of the Bulls dynasty.

Jordan’s shoes broke a different auction record last year when the pair of Air Jordan XIII Breds he wore in Game 2 of the 1998 Finals sold for $2,238,000. This remains the highest sale price for a single pair of shoes
