You would think a bunch of adults would be happy to see a mom without her child so they can enjoy a meal without having to babysit, but that is far from the truth for one woman.

Savannah Thrower, 28, has recorded the moment she walked into a restaurant to visit her family without her 2-year-old son. The foreign military sales logistics management specialist is met with confusion and asked where is Grayson by every family member, who admit they only turned up to see him.

Thrower, from Huntsville, Alabama, told Newsweek: “I wasn’t shocked at all by their reaction; I knew they would be so sad he wasn’t there.”

Two screenshots from the viral video that show the mom touching up her makeup in the car before walking into the restaurant to meet her family. Their reaction can be seen on the right.

At the start of the video, Thrower says that her son is their “family favorite”. So far, the clip of their reactions has racked up more than 8.1 million views on Instagram (@savannahkthrower).

The Bureau of Labor Statistics says parents spend more time with younger children. During their waking hours, mothers spent 7.5 hours and fathers spent 5.3 hours per day with children under age 6.

Time alone for parents is definitely needed, but in this case, Thrower was childless for the safety of her son as the roads were still icy following a storm. So he stayed at home with his dad. However, she decided not to tell her family, who were upset to say the least.

Thrower told Newsweek: “They love him beyond words! He makes life fun and special.”

So far, the video has amassed over 625,000 likes. It is captioned: “In reality their love for my child is all I could have ever wished for. I know they love me, but seeing how they love my child is what matters to me.” There have been thousands of comments, many from people who can’t help but laugh at how the family reacted. However, some people seem to be triggered.

One user commented: “And I know it’s a joke but this makes us feel less than nothing but a care provider for our kids, people don’t even wanna see us any more just them like damn we matter to.”

Thrower told Newsweek: “I know everyone’s situation is different, and that probably elicited a lot of the reactions in the comments, but my family loves me more than I can put into words.

“They didn’t stop loving me when my son was born; they loved me more to be honest!” Thrower added.

Another user posted: “This Fam was the best definition of blunt. The grandma had no shade either ‘I’m going home.'”

“This goes to show what a good mom you are honestly…not very many family members get upset when the kids don’t come to a public outing because they’re so misbehaved or just glued to a screen…speaks volumes that they came for him lol [laugh out loud],” praised another person.

A fourth commenter wrote: “So you were only invited so that he had a ride. I’m sorry girl.”
