Moment Dog Tries On Grandma’s Glasses Has Internet in Stitches

Dogs don’t wear glasses, but if they did you can guarantee they’d look super cute.

In a video posted to the TikTok page @joanieduprasmoisa with over 1.3 million views, an Australian shepherd called Tyson proves this theory when his owner’s grandmother puts her glasses over his eyes.

As Tyson adjusts to the lenses, he appears to be transfixed by their effect, staring straight at the camera.

Perfect vision for a human is 20/20, while a dog’s average vision is 20/75, according to the American Kennel Club (AKC).

“Dogs can see best at dusk and dawn and can recognize objects best when they are moving,” the AKC writes on its website. “Contrary to popular belief, dogs are not color blind, but also do not see as many colors as humans. Most studies show that dogs see colors in various shades of blue and yellow.”

While dogs won’t be prescribed glasses like humans are, it is important to keep an eye on your dog’s eye health, as impaired vison can be a sign of underlying health conditions.

Signs of impaired vision can include, according to pet advice site Wag Walking:

  • Dragging behind on a walk
  • Refusal to move in unfamiliar surroundings
  • Out of character snappiness when touched unexpectedly
  • Bumping into objects in their path
  • Large dilated pupils that don’t get smaller in bright light
  • Easily startled

Some experts argue that if your dog spends a lot of time outside, they could benefit from dog googles.

“If you and your dog love playing on the beach, goggles will protect their eyes from sand,” say the AKC. “Maybe you take to the open roads together on a motorcycle or bike; goggles will ensure their eyes are safe from wind-blown debris along the freeway. Once you’ve trained your dog to wear their sunglasses comfortably, you’ll want to ensure you have a pair for traveling.”

Users on TikTok loved the funny video.

“Why does he remind me of the kids Disney show ‘dog with a blog’ and yes Ik that dog had white fur but it’s the vibe,” said one user.

“Dog said, ‘I can see clearly now, the rain has gone,'” said another user.

“I did this to my grandma’s dog and she looked like a librarian,” commented a third.
