Multiple people have been stabbed at a shopping center in Sydney, Australia, in an attack that was followed by police shooting a man, it has been reported.
New South Wales Ambulance told news agency AFP that a man who was thought to be the attacker had been shot dead.
Local media reported that several people had been killed although this has not been confirmed by New South Wales police, which declared a critical incident at Westfield Bondi Junction just before 4 p.m. local time Saturday.
Footage on social media apparently from the scene showed panicked crowds at the site, injured people and a man carrying a large knife.
