A lady has informed Newsnight how her child died throughout childbirth “as a result of errors” made after she went into labour in jail.
Louise Powell, 31, mentioned she begged for an ambulance earlier than her child, Brooke, died in a cell at HMP Styal in 2020.
The Jail Ombudsman is reviewing the dying and can also be as a result of publish its findings on one other child’s dying at HMP Bronzefield in Middlesex in 2019.
The Jail Service mentioned it had already “made vital enhancements to assist feminine offenders”.
