One dead after side-by-side UTV collision in Laurentian Hills

A 22-year-old from Eganville is dead following a side-by-side utility terrain vehicle collision in Laurentian Hills early Sunday.

At about 12:44 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP detachment were called to a single-vehicle crash on Pergeon Lake Road. A preliminary investigation indicated the UTV had rolled at a curve in the road, police said.

Both the driver and the passenger, who were ejected from the UTV, were taken to hospital, where the passenger was pronounced dead. The 25-year-old driver from Laurentian Hills suffered non-life-threatening injuries, the OPP said in a news release Monday.

Upper Ottawa Valley OPP officers continue to investigate with assistance from OPP technical collision investigators and an OPP collision reconstructionist.

Laurentian Hills is located in Renfrew County, about 200 km northwest of Ottawa.
