Ottawa police seeking info to ID suspect in mall assault in March

The Ottawa Police Service has released a photo of a suspect as part of its investigation into a violent, unprovoked assault at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre last winter.

A news release on Tuesday said the suspect male approached the victim and initiated a physical altercation at about 3 p.m. on March 18. The victim was struck in the face several times, leaving him with serious injuries, and he was taken to an Ottawa hospital, police said.

The release described the suspect as a fair-skinned man with a medium build. On the day of the incident, he wore a black baseball cap, black jacket down to his upper thighs, black pants and dark-coloured shoes with white laces.

He had a tattoo on the left side of his neck with what appeared to be a wing and “unknown” text around the wing. He was carrying a bag, slung over the right side of his body with a small dog inside.
