A golden retriever has been dubbed a “drama king” after the unusual reason for his sudden illness was revealed.

In a TikTok video with over 2 million views, Goose’s owner shared how the pup suddenly started displaying worrying symptoms one day.

“Poor guy started limping,” the video explained. “[The] next day he was lethargic, so he got extra pampering.”

The concerned pet owner gave Goose plenty of attention, bringing him food and water to his spot on the couch and offering massages.

But when he was still acting differently, they headed to the vet to get him checked out.

Despite their best efforts to diagnose the dog in distress, the veterinarian wasn’t able to find a cause for Goose’s behavior, prescribing anti-inflammatory medication as a precaution.

The plot thickened further though when Goose’s dad returned from a work trip early, and miraculously, all signs of illness vanished into thin air.

“Dad came home from his work trip early…and magically all of the pain was gone!!” the video said, alongside footage of the golden retriever frolicking in the local park with toys.

After the ordeal, his owner shared the video on TikTok joking that Goose was a “drama king.”

This is far from the first time a pet as duped their owner into thinking they were unwell for a bit of attention. Like 17-year-old cat Steezy who began peeing on the bed just before Thanksgiving. A veterinarian consultation of over $500 later, they were informed it was simply because they had stopped giving him nighttime treats.

Similarly, another cat owner spent $100 to investigate a mystery lump on her 4-year-old cat Ponyo—only to be told it was her belly button.

Goose’s theatrics were all too familiar for many viewers on TikTok too. In thousands of comments, people shared their reactions and own experiences.

“Spent $400 on vet visit and X-rays only to find nothing,” said viewer Neki. “He ate boiled chicken and rice for a week, but left all the rice.”

While TikToker na wrote: “[I] spent $500 in my dog once for the vet to tell me he was limping for attention.”

“My dog faked a leg injury so I would share my tortellini with him,” laughed Neenerbean.
