A social media video that captures how a Labrador was carried 3.5 kilometers (2.1 miles) down a mountain after injuring his paws has stunned viewers online, while leading to plenty of laughs too.

The viral video, which has been viewed more than 5.2 million times since it was first shared to Instagram on February 9, filmed the tense ordeal after Kai the Labrador got hurt on the November hike.

Viewers were shown the Labrador being carried down the mountain by different people after “refusing to walk” the last 3.5-kilometer stretch down to the mountain’s base. One of Kai’s carriers was filmed comedically collapsing to the ground after reaching the bottom of the mountain with the dog.

“Our Lab got hurt on a hike and had to be carried down the mountain,” the dog’s owner shared in the post.

The post had been captioned: “This was back in November and I never posted much about it. I feel so bad but he looks so goofy in all of these clips. He tore his paw pads and refused to walk the last 3.5 km so this is what we had to do to get him down!”

The chocolate-shaded Labrador and his owner are based in Vancouver, Canada, which is where they were enjoying their hike before Kai injured his paws. The pair have amassed more than 12,900 followers on the owner-managed Instagram account that shares Kai’s daily antics and most memorable moments.
