A dog owner has joked that she is “never leaving the house again” after seeing what her dog gets up to while the family are out of the house.

Crystal Sullivan lives in Texas with her 6-year-old American Bully Dex. Like many pet owners, Dex’s family utilize indoor security cameras to keep an eye on Dex when they’re out of the house.

But when looking at the footage while out recently, Sullivan noticed something that broke her heart.

Pictures of Dex on the indoor camera that prompted his owner to rush home.

In a series of captured videos, Dex is seen howling longingly into the air, seemingly calling out for his family.

“When we saw them, we actually rushed home and then immediately took him to the park,” Sullivan told Newsweek.

While we might think that longing for someone that isn’t there is a human trait, various scientific studies have found that dogs often start to miss their owners from the moment they part ways.

There are various signs that show your dog might have missed you when you’re reunited, including seeking you out and actively asking for your attention.

Sullivan was prompted to share Dex’s home-alone antics with others, and posted the video on Facebook’s popular Dogspotting Society group, where she said she was “never leaving the house again.”

Many people on Facebook were in stitches and left comments in response to Dex’s dramatic yelling.

“At first I thought he was having a conversation with something in the ceiling,” said Lisa. While Dagmar joked: “Are you sure he’s not a whale?”

“You need a second dog,” Kitty suggested. While others commented to suggest Sullivan try dog music or leaving the radio on for her pet.

Other viewers were entirely on the side of Dex, like Tyesha who wrote: “Yeah you can never go anywhere without him again. You’re done. Now get in there and hold him and apologize.”

“I shared because I thought it was a sweet cute video on how he missed us,” said Sullivan.

This isn’t the first time Dex has delighted the internet either. His Instagram account, @dex.the.bully, has over 94,000 followers.

There he is loved for his adorable pictures and funny videos, including waiting for mom’s homemade cookies to come out of the oven.

Sullivan and Dex also share their tips and tricks for living with canine hypothyroidism, a condition Dex has where the thyroid gland produces lower-than-normal amounts of thyroid hormones, leading to a slowed metabolism and other potential health issues.
