No matter their size, breed, or even health conditions, cats will be cats. A disabled cat called Penny has melted hearts all over social media after managing to climbing a whole canyon by herself despite the challenges posed by her condition.

In a post shared on TikTok on Sunday by her owners, under the username morleykert, Penny who suffers from cerebral hypoplasia, can be seen defying all odds, and climbing all the way up a canyon as her owners watch in disbelief.

“Oh my God Penny, what are you doing? she’s literally up a canyon wall,” one of the owners can be heard screaming, before encouraging her: “Penny you are incredible, she’s unstoppable.”

Penny’s owners built what they call a “home on wheels,” a van turned into a home, in which they live and travel with their pet.

A caption shared along with the post reads: “When your disabled cat decides to hike a mountain. Penny has cerebral hypoplasia, which makes her a little wobbly and off balance. but that doesn’t stop her from exploring everywhere she can!” Followed by: “Nothing stops Penny.”

VCA Animal Hospitals explains that cerebellar hypoplasia is a developmental condition in which the part of the brain in charge of fine motor skills, balance, and coordination, fails to develop properly, leaving cats unable to stand or walk properly.

However, not all cats are affected the same way, in fact, the severity of the symptoms depends on how much of the brain was affected, usually during pregnancy, and at what stage in its development the infection occurred.

“Other inflammatory diseases of the brain such as toxoplasmosis infection may cause similar symptoms. However, the most common cause of this condition by far is infection with panleukopenia virus,” the website added.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 36.9 million views and 7.7 million likes on the platform.

One user, Chace, commented: “Please get her a hawk vest (i think it makes her fly like a hawk).” And drivykins8 said: “That was on her bucket list! She was fearless coming back down too!!!”

Keller added: “Not the wobbly cat being more agile and adventurous than me.”
