Patrick Mahomes’ Dad Makes Feelings on Taylor Swift Clear

Taylor Swift has become a regular fixture at boyfriend Travis Kelce’s NFL games—and it sounds like she’s impressed the father of quarterback Patrick Mahomes.

Swift and Travis Kelce went public with their relationship in September and they have since become one of the most talked about celebrity pairs. Swift was first spotted at a Kansas City Chiefs game on September 24, alongside Donna Kelce, and she has attended several Chiefs contests this season amid her romance with the tight end.

While watching Travis Kelce play, Swift has formed a friendship with Brittany Mahomes—wife of Travis Kelce’s teammate Patrick Mahomes. As this friendship has developed, Swift has met other members of the Mahomes family, including the quarterback’s father, former MLB pitcher Pat Mahomes. He revealed in an interview that the pop superstar is “genuine” and “down to earth.”

Newsweek contacted Swift’s publicist via email for comment on Thursday.

In a video posted late on Wednesday night to TikTok by Starcade Media, a sports and entertainment media brand, an interviewer asked Pat Mahomes what he could tell them about the “phenomenon” that is Taylor Swift.

“She’s down to earth. I actually walked up and introduced myself to her and she said she knew who I was because she had watched the Quarterback series,” he said, referring to the Netflix docuseries that took viewers into the homes of Patrick Mahomes, Kirk Cousins and Marcus Mariota.

“[She’s] down to earth and took a picture with me and my wife and also took a picture with me and my daughter so I mean she was genuine, every time I’ve hung out with her she just acts like a normal person.”

People took to the comments to echo Pat Mahomes’ sentiment.

“Everyone has the greatest things to say about her ALL THE TIME!!!! Because she is an amazing person,” one person wrote.

“She is a normal person! She’s kind & gives back! Very humble,” said another.

A third added: “That’s so sweet!”

This isn’t the only parent who has shown their support for Swift, as Donna Kelce did so in a subtle way when she uploaded a video to Instagram on November 20. While aboard a Celebrity Cruises ship, she showed her followers what her accommodation was like.

“Come tour my room on the inaugural sail of the @celebritycruises Ascent,” she captioned the post.

Swifties are known for paying attention to every little detail, and they noticed that Donna Kelce was quietly listening to a song by the singer-songwriter in the background. The song was “The 1,” which is from her eighth studio album, Folklore, released in 2020. Written from the point of view of one of Swift’s friends, the song describes the narrator’s newborn optimistic outlook on life.

Swift and Travis Kelce’s relationship has been getting more serious over recent months. Now that the tight end and the pop star are an official couple, Donna Kelce feels more comfortable commenting on it publicly.

“I can tell you this, he’s happier than I’ve seen him in a long time…. God bless him, he shot for the stars!” she told The Wall Street Journal in November.

When Time magazine labeled Swift Person of the Year 2023, she told the publication that she had secretly begun dating Kelce in July. This was shortly after he spoke on his New Heights podcast about his failed attempt to give her a friendship bracelet with his phone number on it at one of her concerts.

“This all started when Travis very adorably put me on blast on his podcast, which I thought was metal as hell,” she said. “We started hanging out right after that. So we actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other.

“By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”
