Randi Mahomes, the mother of Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, has shared a prayer on social media amid the heightened Israeli-Palestinian tensions.

Palestinian militant group Hamas’ fighters stormed into Israel on Saturday, killing more than 1,200 people, according to the latest figures from the Israeli military. Hamas said the attack was retribution for worsening conditions for Palestinians under Israeli occupation, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu subsequently declared: “We are at war.”

Since Saturday, Israel has carried out attacks against Hamas, launching “Operation Swords of Iron,” pummeling the sealed-off and densely populated Gaza Strip with airstrikes. Palestinian officials said around 1,055 people had been killed in Gaza since Saturday. Israel has also stopped the entry of food, fuel and medicine into Gaza, worsening the humanitarian conditions in the tiny territory of 2.3 million people.

Hezbollah, an Iran-backed organization that the U.S. considers a terrorist group, on Sunday launched a barrage of mortar shells into Israel. The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) responded by shooting artillery into Lebanon.

In the days since the attacks, several celebrities have published their thoughts across social media. Randi Mahomes took a spiritual approach, as she weighed in with a post on Monday.

“Lord please heal our world. In the name of Jesus Christ amen,” she wrote on X, formerly Twitter, rounding out her post with a praying hands emoji.

Her post was met with support from her X followers, a number of whom wrote “Amen” in response.

Shortly before sharing her post, the Mahomes matriarch showed support for another X user who had shared a photo of one of the Israeli casualties from Saturday’s attacks.

“So sorry prayers,” Randi Mahomes wrote in response.

As the events unfolded over the weekend, President Joe Biden condemned the attacks, while stating that the United States is standing by to offer its support to Israel.

“The United States unequivocally condemns this appalling assault against Israel by Hamas terrorists from Gaza, and I made clear to Prime Minister Netanyahu that we stand ready to offer all appropriate means of support to the Government and people of Israel,” Biden said in a statement. “Terrorism is never justified.”

U.N. Secretary-General António Guterres also “strongly” condemned Hamas’ actions.

“The attacks have so far claimed numerous Israeli civilian lives and injured many hundreds,” a spokesperson for Guterres said in an official statement on Saturday. “The Secretary-General is appalled by reports that civilians have been attacked and abducted from their own homes.”
