According to WeAreIowa news, a spokesperson for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office in Perry also confirmed that there was an active shooter on campus. Newsweek reached out to the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office via email for comment.
The Des Moines Area Community College issued an announcement on its website this morning saying that it is closing the Perry Center and canceling classes in response to the “active violence situation that occurred at Perry High School.”
In a video posted to X, formerly Twitter, a large police response can be seen outside Perry High School following reports of the shooting.
It is unclear if any injuries or casualties occurred during the shooting.
