Prince Harry’s whispered comment to Prince William as Kate Middleton walked down the aisle of Westminster Abbey in London on the couple’s wedding day has featured in a new viral video as they prepare to mark their 13th anniversary this month.

William and Kate met at college in 2001 and began dating soon after, beginning a 10-year road to the altar. The couple married at Westminster Abbey on April 29, 2011, with the day being declared a national holiday in Britain, attracting viewers from around the world.

During the ceremony, William and Harry stood side by side at the high altar awaiting the future princess.

Uploaded to X (formerly Twitter) by user @historyinmemes (better known as Historic Vids), footage of Harry turning to his brother as the bride approached the altar has become a viral hit, gaining over 2.4 million views in 48 hours on the social-media platform.

In the footage, Harry turns to his brother, uttering a quiet aside that the viral post works out as: “Wait until you see her.”

The post has received over 16,000 likes and 200 comments, many of which have praised the royals and commented on the state of Harry and William’s relationship today, following their public split in 2020.

“Back when life was simpler,” one X user wrote of the clip.

“That’s before all the drama,” posted another, with a further comment reading: “Beautiful brotherly moment.”

Harry did not recount his brief comment with William at the altar in his 2023 memoir, Spare. In fact, he told readers that his brother and sister-in-law’s marriage ceremony was “mostly a blank” in his mind. He did, however, write: “I recall Kate walking down the aisle, looking incredible, and I recall Willy walking her back up the aisle, and as they disappeared through the door, into the carriage that would convey them to Buckingham Palace, into the eternal partnership they’d pledged, I recall thinking: Goodbye.”

William and Kate’s anniversary this year has taken on increased public focus as it comes just a month after the princess announced that she has been diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing “preventative chemotherapy.”

Kate has been out of the public eye since the beginning of the year, first undergoing abdominal surgery in London and then following the cancer diagnosis.

The royal is not expected to return to public duties until further notice as she continues to focus on her treatment, her recovery and her young family.

When the princess made her health announcement on March 22, brother- and sister-in-law, Harry and Meghan Markle, issued a statement wishing her well.

“We wish health and healing for Kate and the family,” the couple said via a spokesperson. “And hope they are able to do so privately and in peace.”
