Princess Charlotte and Prince William’s “special bond” has become the focus of a new viral video, with footage of the royal father-daughter duo winning praise from fans on social media site X (formerly Twitter).

Charlotte is the second child and only daughter of the Prince and Princess of Wales. The princess will celebrate her ninth birthday on May 2, 2024, and has seen her public profile rise over the past two years since the accession of her grandfather, King Charles III, to the throne.

Charlotte and her siblings, Prince George,10, and Prince Louis, 5, were guests at their grandfather’s coronation in May 2023, and their presence at royal ceremonies and events have become highly anticipated by fans.

During public appearances, several touching moments exchanged between Charlotte and William have been picked up by fans and shared widely online, with numerous viral posts and comments praising their apparent closeness.

Uploaded to X by user, @historyinmemes (better known as “Historic Vids”), on April 6, a compilation of these moments has generated considerable online viewership, reaching over 15 million hits in 48 hours.

The footage opens with the moment Charlotte switched seats with Prince George to be closer to her father during the Platinum Jubilee pageant held in London for Queen Elizabeth II in 2022, marking her 70 years on the throne.

Also included is footage from Charlotte’s first solo public engagement with her parents during the 2022 Commonwealth Games, followed by a clip captured during the royal family balcony appearance marking the Trooping the Colour ceremony in 2023.

During this appearance that followed the annual ceremony marking the monarch’s official birthday, William was spotted placing his hands affectionately on his daughter’s shoulders, a gesture she touchingly reciprocated by placing her hands on top of his.

Captioned “Princess Charlotte has a special bond with Prince William,” the video has received over 1,800 retweets and numerous comments, many of which have praised the royals.

“Princess Charlotte and Prince William. She is a carbon copy of her father and her grandmother, Princess Diana,” posted one user with a side-by-side photo comparison of the father and daughter.

“The bond between a father and his daughter, it’s always magnificent to see,” posted another, with a further comment reading: “Very wholesome.”

The Wales family have become the subject of increased public focus, following Princess Kate’s announcement on March 22 that she is undergoing preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis.

During a video address discussing her health, Kate highlighted the importance for her and Prince William in maintaining a normal family life for their children.

“As you can imagine, this has taken time. It has taken me time to recover from major surgery in order to start my treatment. But, most importantly, it has taken us time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in a way that is appropriate for them, and to reassure them that I am going to be ok,” she said.

Expressing a wish for privacy, she then went on to add: “We hope that you will understand that, as a family, we now need some time, space and privacy while I complete my treatment. My work has always brought me a deep sense of joy and I look forward to being back when I am able, but for now I must focus on making a full recovery.”
