Pristine coral reef found off the coast of Tahiti – BBC Information
Marine explorers have found an enormous coral reef at depths of 30m off the coast of Tahiti, French Polynesia.
The construction stretches over 3km alongside the ocean mattress and is likely one of the largest found at that depth, says the United Nations Instructional, Scientific and Cultural Group, which led the mission.
Dr Julian Barbiere, from Unesco, stated there have been most likely many extra of those ecosystems “we simply do not find out about”.
“We must be working to map them and to guard them,” he stated.
