The star power of Iowa Hawkeyes guard Caitlin Clark is undeniable. She has been the talk of the NCAA world, all while being discussed by NBA stars as well. Clark’s appeal has led to the women’s NCAA Tournament Final Four tickets skyrocketing in price.

While the Hawkeyes are still in the thick of the tournament, Clark had already announced her declaration for the WNBA draft before the NCAA postseason began. Despite her plans for a pro career, she has already received other offers as well.

Big 3 CEO and famed West Coast rap legend Ice Cube offered Clark a ridiculously big contract to play for his league. The guaranteed sum of $5 million was offered to the phenom senior guard and a stipulation that she could still play for the WNBA while under contract.

Her contract would be for eight regular season games, including two playoff games should her team make it that far. While the deal was meant to remain behind closed doors, Cube spoke to Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson of “All the Smoke Podcast” about why the deal transpired.

Barnes begins by asking Cube about a “big deal” and asks the Big 3 boss about the details. Cube revealed that the offer was levied to Clark a few weeks prior to the interview and “had not received anything back.” He quickly corrects that statement and says the response was that she is in tournament mode and is not thinking about anything else, which is fair.

Cube reveals the deal was meant to be private, but it got leaked to the press. Instead of denying the claim, he revealed they had made Clark an offer.

Cube goes into far more detail about why the Big 3 league decided to make an offer. He does admit that the league has transformed since the days when it was rougher. Even co-host Jackson stated he would “protect” Clark, given her WNBA aspirations. Jackson is the current head coach of Trilogy, the back-to-back Big 3 Champions.

Barnes goes into the salary side of things with the WNBA, asking Cube for details about the offer. He states the contract details would come out if Clark agrees. He also stated they are treating the contract offer as a “sort of NIL deal.” He said investors are heavily pushing for Clark to be a part of the Big 3, and adding her would transform the league into a far more celebrated and recognized organization.

So basically, Clark could receive a lucrative contract for joining the Big 3, and her star power would help to further add notoriety to Cube’s budding basketball league. It would just be up to Clark to accept.
