It’s no secret that pets can cause a lot of mess around the home. While most people will clean that up without question, one woman has gone viral after sharing her boyfriend’s unusual hack for getting rid of stains.

In a hilarious TikTok video, Harlianne Alampi said that her boyfriend’s goldendoodle had been sick on the fluffy rug around five or six times. However, her partner saved himself the trouble of scrubbing stains out of it simply by cutting out the entire area instead.

Alampi, from Michigan, showed how the gray rug now has a zigzag shape, with corners missing and an overall abstract design. While it definitely wouldn’t be her way of cleaning up the vomit, Alampi told Newsweek that her boyfriend prefers this “because cutting is way easier,” apparently. It’s certainly an unusual method, and it has left Alampi hoping they can get a new rug soon.

“He doesn’t do it anymore, as it was something he used to do before we met. But rugs cost an arm and a leg, so I’ve grown to like it and I just ignore it now,” Alampi said.

The gray rug, which has entire sections cut out of it, after the dog vomited on it. Alampi’s video has amused millions of TikTok users, with some even praising her boyfriend’s genius idea.

The couple may have been able to hide the missing chunks at first, but now Alampi jokes that he’s cut off too much and she has accepted that this just “comes with the territory” of dating him.

Since the TikTok video was posted on March 27 (@ohheyms.a), it has already been viewed over 2.4 million times and gained more than 236,400 likes in a matter of days. The caption layered over the video reads: “Hey sharks! I’m seeking $300 for a new rug for my boyfriend’s house. He cut this one every time the dog puked on it. It’s giving staircase. Thanks!”

The online response to the clip has been unlike anything that Alampi expected, and she has loved reading all the hilarious comments and reactions people shared. She told Newsweek: “Social media has been so funny and entertaining to see. I’ve loved sharing it, and for now, I’m still hoping for a new rug someday in our future.”

It’s safe to say that many social-media users have admired the boyfriend’s ingenuity in redesigning the fluffy rug and avoiding cleaning it every time the dog is sick, while others couldn’t hide their shock. One comment reads: “This is such a wild thing to do like what was the thought process on this.”

Another person responded: “I can’t even fault him [because] to me this is genius.”

Others were full of praise for the boyfriend, as one TikTok user wrote: “honestly I aspire to have this level of free will.”
