Most people think that robot vacuums are only good for picking up bits of dirt and cleaning the floor, but not this rescue dog, who has found a whole new way of using the appliance to his advantage.
The retriever and collie mix was lying on the floor when he spotted the vacuum moving around him, and rather than moving away from it (or pouncing on it, as he so often does), J-Roc decided to put the machine to good use. Rolling onto his back, J-Roc, nicknamed JJ, discovered that the vacuum also “gives free belly rubs,” and he certainly wasn’t going to turn that down.
The dog’s owner, Jenn Buisman, from Ontario, Canada, told Newsweek that he “usually hates the robot vacuum,” but not this time around. When she caught him using it for belly rubs, he couldn’t have loved it more.
“JJ usually pounces on it until it stops, but this time I saw it rolling around and I thought it was going to get caught on his tail,” Buisman said. “I couldn’t stop laughing at him and I started recording, not realizing that he would lay there and wait for it to run along his whole body. It was pretty funny.”

While he is normally happy to be rid of the robot appliance, JJ looked rather sad to see it glide away on this occasion. Safe to say, he hadn’t done this trick before, and Buisman jokes that he “hasn’t tried it again since.” Although, there’s still plenty of time.
After capturing the footage, Buisman couldn’t resist sharing it on TikTok (@jennbuisey) and it’s certainly delighted many. In just a matter of days, the video has already gained more than 667,200 views and over 27,900 likes at the time of writing. TikTok users can’t get enough of JJ’s genius method of using the vacuum to his advantage. Look out dishwasher, he’s coming for you next.
The social media reaction has been incredible, albeit overwhelming, as Buisman says she “didn’t expect it to blow up” like this. She’s loved seeing her goofy rescue pup bring joy to so many people.
“The social media reaction has been unbelievable. It’s been a really fun experience to see everyone else’s reaction to the video,” she told Newsweek.
With over 200 comments on the post already, plenty of people lauded JJ for using the vacuum cleaner to get what he wanted. After all, he’ll do just about anything for a belly rub.
One comment reads: “Thank you so much for the laugh! This dog is innovative and hilarious!”
Another person responded: “This dog has unlocked the ability for belly rubs on a vacuum. All dogs should take notes.”
While another TikToker joked: “Work smarter, not harder.”
