Getting a new puppy is an exciting moment for everyone, including your existing dog, who will get to spend the most time with them. A pair of Rottweilers have melted hearts on social media after a clip of them playing with their owner’s new puppy went viral.

In the heartwarming clip, shared on TikTok earlier in December by their owner, under the username wellnessdailyofficial, the two Rottweilers can be seen observing their little brother’s moves, still trying to figure out how to play with the tiny French bulldog.

While one of the dogs decided to keep his distance, the other one can be seen patting the puppy, in the most gentle way the Rottweiler knows.

Adult dogs can live peacefully with other dogs and puppies, becoming the best of friends, but it’s on their owners to make sure things run smoothly. When bringing a new puppy home, the way you introduce them to your adult dog will majorly impact their future relationship.

Before bringing in the new puppy, you should prepare your home. According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), you will need a crate, an exercise pen, and baby gates, which are all very helpful tools that will make life much easier when you need to quickly separate the dogs.

The first meeting between the two dogs must take place in a neutral place—not inside the established dog’s home. The AKC suggests taking the older dog along when you pick up the puppy and letting them ride home in the car together, though each in a separate crate.

“When everyone is home, take them out, walk them around on leashes in the front yard, and walk inside together. An unknown puppy barging in the front door can seem like an invasion to even the friendliest, most mellow dog. If taking the older dog along isn’t an option, the dogs should still meet outside of the home and walk in together,” the website explains.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 12.6 million views and 1.3 million likes.

One user, Gina, commented: “Frenchie be like, ‘Y’all don’t scare me! Y’all want some of this?” And Kas said: “Rottie. *lightly paws* Frenchie: *total collapse*.”

flurarinuyi added: “I love that they keep pushing him over like ‘We wanna play but… you’re kinda small.” Jennifer Augenstine said: “Definitely needs the ‘I’m just a baby’ sound.”
