Sassy Shih Tzu Totally ‘Judging’ Owner for Lying Down on Couch

A shih tzu has been filmed giving his owner some “sassy attitude” after finding her relaxing on the couch rather than being at his beck and call.

Pets today have never had it so good, with owners falling over themselves to pamper their four-legged friends. A poll of 2,000 cat and dog owners conducted by OnePoll on behalf of pet retailer Zesty Paws bears this out, with 65 percent of respondents admitting they spoil their four-legged friends on a daily basis.

But setting such high expectations can be exhausting, as the clip of Nadalina Francic of Ontario, Canada, shows. Francic doesn’t necessarily spoil her 6-year-old dog, Frankie, but it’s clear he’s become accustomed to being the center of attention.

So when he recently stumbled upon Francic enjoying a 20-minute nap on the couch, he was far from happy, as a video posted to TikTok under the handle frankietheshiht reveals. In the clip, Frankie can be seen “judging” his owner for lying down, which is something Francic found particularly rich given that he sleeps “18 hours a day.”

“I was having a tired moment after a long work day,” Francic told Newsweek. “Frankie was not getting attention so clearly he did not want me to sleep but rather give him attention and play with him or he would start to cry and pout in the corner.”

Frankie the shih tzu is not afraid to let his owner know how he feels, as a TikTok video shows.

But while Frankie might be taking center stage right now, that wasn’t always the case.

“Frankie actually came into my life when I had another dog who was sick with cancer and unfortunately on her way out,” Francic said. “I thought it was bad timing to get another dog, so I really felt guilty when my mom wanted to get another dog.”

Francic could not give Frankie her undivided attention at first, as she was still looking after their other dog, which was dying. But after its death, Frankie was her rock.

“He helped me through the grieving process so much,” she said. “He wiggled his way into my heart, and the rest was history. Now I can’t imagine my life without Frankie.”

Frankie has a wide range of hobbies and interests. “His favorite thing to do is eat,” she said. “He also loves short walks where he can sniff around and stop to smell the roses, and he absolutely loves to watch the sunset. We usually watch the sunset together every night in the summertime.”

Francic admits that Frankie is prone to “react” when he doesn’t get attention, but she doesn’t think he’s alone in doing that. “I’m sure that’s like any dog,” she said. “He usually pouts in the corner or cries or tries to get your attention by stealing your shoes or acting out.”

But while Francic might appear a little weary of her dog’s judgment in these situations, she loves Frankie just the way he is and is looking forward to sharing more clips of him on social media.

“He’s a silly little guy, and people on TikTok love his lazy and sassy attitude as much as I do,” she said.
