Scheffler, 27, won consecutive matches at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and Players Championship before his last start. This win at the Masters has to feel good for him; not only did Scheffler win one of golf’s most prestigious tournaments, his wife is expected to have their first child soon.

There was a thought that Scheffler could be forced to leave the tournament early if his wife went into labor. He had previously said that he would indeed leave early if he got the fateful call from her.

“As far as her going into labor, I wouldn’t say I’m very concerned. We haven’t seen any of the early signs. But pregnancy is weird. It can happen at any time. Yeah, open lines of communication and she can get ahold of me if she needs to,” he said. “Yeah, I’m ready to go at a moment’s notice.”

Luckily for him, she didn’t go into labor during and he was able to finish. But he did mention that he would only get to be there for the birth of his first child one time. Even with all the pressure from the Masters, Scheffler still had his priorities on his wife and family.

Asked on Saturday if he thought she’d call him, he didn’t hesitate. “She better call,” he said with a laugh.

Now that the Masters are over, Scheffler can look forward to celebrating his well-deserved victory with his growing family.
