Sophie Turner Celebrates Taylor Swift Friendship After Joe Jonas Divorce

Sophie Turner is celebrating the new year with a post dedicated to her girlfriends—including music icon Taylor Swift.

Posting to Instagram on Monday, the 27-year-old actress shared a series of photos with her gal pals. Swift and singer Sabrina Carpenter made an appearance in the photos, with the picture taken during the Kansas City Chiefs vs New York Jets game in October.

Snapped in the stands at New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium, the group was there to cheer on Swift’s boyfriend, the Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce.

“2023 was the year of the girlies,” Turner wrote alongside the images, adding that “2024s forecast is looking fairly consistent.”

Although not featured in the picture, Turner’s fellow Marvel stars Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds also made an appearance, along with Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively.

Turner starred as Jean Grey in the X-Men franchise, with the meet-up heightening speculation that Swift will be making a cameo in Deadpool 3, most likely starring as pop star superhero Dazzler.

The stadium snap isn’t the first time Turner and the Swift have been spotted hanging out recently. The duo set the Internet alight this fall when they were photographed going out for dinner, just days after the Game of Thrones star split from her husband—and Swift’s ex-boyfriend—Joe Jonas.

The boyband star filed for divorce in September, leading to one of 2023’s messiest public breakups.

The former couple met in 2016 after Jonas, 34, messaged Turner on Instagram. They tied the knot in Las Vegas three years later. They welcomed daughter Willa in 2020, followed by Delphine in 2022.

Despite their celebrity status, the pair kept their family life out of the spotlight. However, shortly after the split was announced, rumors began to spread that the actress’ “partying” was to blame for the marriage breakdown.

A source told TMZ that Turner wanted to continue working, while Jonas was at home raising the couple’s two children. Fans slammed the rumors, accusing Jonas’s PR team of planting the stories to make Turner look like a bad mother, with the singer’s public image taking a hit.

The Jonas’ team released a statement denying responsibility for the gossip surrounding Turner, while the Emmy nominee chose to keep quiet on the matter.

Turner sued Jonas for “wrongful retention” of their two young children, alleging he refused to hand over the girls’ passports.

Before the breakup, Turner and Jonas had planned to raise their daughters in the U.K., with the country listed as the family’s place of residence.

News of the lawsuit broke shortly before Turner was photographed on a girls’ night out with Swift at New York City restaurant Via Carota, with fans applauding the timing.

“Sophie turner and taylor swift had the opportunity to do the funniest thing ever and they did,” said one fan on X, formerly Twitter.

“One night out with Taylor Swift & Sophie Turner is suing joe jonas for kidnapping. She’s so powerful. Ya gotta love it,” wrote another.

“Joe Jonas thinking he can win against Sophie Turner and Taylor Swift is so wild to me like he didn’t even win against Taylor the first time around,” said a third commenter.

Swift dated Disney channel star Jonas in 2008 during their teen idol phase. The breakup reportedly inspired Swift’s songs “Forever & Always” and “Mr. Perfectly Fine.”

During an appearance on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, the Grammy winner said Jonas dumped her during a 25-second phone call. However, she also confirmed she’d moved on from the relationship long ago.

In September, an insider told Entertainment Tonight that Turner and Swift had become friends before the divorce filing, with the actress a fan of the pop star’s music.

“They are fans of each other and have been friends for a while,” the source said.

“Sophie doesn’t care that Taylor dated Joe. It was so long ago and in the past. Taylor has a good time when she’s with Sophie and they enjoyed some fun girl time together.”

In October, Turner and Jonas announced that they had come to a temporary agreement regarding their children, with the exes planning to share custody while they sort through their divorce.
