A driver who was nabbed by Ottawa police Wednesday afternoon doing 136 km/h in an 80 km/h construction zone said she only wanted to warm up her hands, but mistakenly pressed the vehicle’s “sports mode” button.
Traffic officers spotted “yet another lead-footed motorist on the eastbound 174 … with workers present,” police said on social media.

“Stunt charge, tow & court date,” police said in the social message.
Speeding in a construction zone can carry additional penalties, although that charge was not mentioned specifically in the release.
Police did not provide a specific location.
