You don’t see squirrels in your house very often, much less ones who steal from your kitchen. You may expect the animal to help itself to food but this squirrel has taken theft to a whole new level.
In a viral TikTok video shared by @bamosalaplayita, the animal can be seen running away with a knife in its mouth.
The shocked woman begins filming as she leaves her kitchen and points the camera to the ground where the rodent can be seen escaping with the sharp object. And it doesn’t appear to be a butter knife, it appears to be a huge blade.
She can be heard saying “Oh my god, he just stole a knife,” followed by “come back.”

So far, the clip has racked up 909,900 views and over 158,000 likes. According to the comments, the internet isn’t that surprised by the squirrel’s weapon of choice.
One comment, which has over 15,000 likes, said: “He’s about [to] frame you for something.”
Another user said: “Squirrels are always plotting!” One comment said: “He chose violence.”
“The turf war between the squirrels, raccoons, and rats just got interesting,” stated another person.
It isn’t clear where the squirrel was caught in action. Squirrels are not known to be territorial but they may defend the area around a nest site.
While they may look cute and fluffy, most tree squirrels do have strong chisel-like incisors and powerful jaws. They use them mainly to open hard nuts or fruits. It’ is not clear what the thief will use the knife for…
Squirrels have proven themselves to be brazen little creatures who have no shame when it comes to using other people’s belongings. One squirrel was once found to be using someone’s air con.
And a man named Derrick previously told Newsweek about his encounter with a squirrel he named Maxine.
He said: “I saw Maxine carrying cotton across the street. I immediately began recording because I was intrigued and confused as to how she was retrieving cotton from the tree.”
After further investigation, Derrick discovered that cheeky Maxine had shredded his outdoor couch to retrieve the cotton for her treehouse. The animal shows no remorse and doesn’t even hesitate to make herself scarce when he looks at the damage she caused.
