A hair stylist and his client got a nasty shock when they realized the backwash in the salon had broken while he was rinsing her hair, leaving the floor flooded.

The stylist, known as Stew Stylez, shared the now-viral video to TikTok, which gained over 3.9 million views in the first 24 hours. The clip shows Stylez rinsing his client’s hair in the bowl, but both of them are late to realize that water was flooding out from the base of the backwash.

It took for Stylez to feel water under his foot for the pair to realize what was happening. He immediately stopped what he was doing, saying, “Oh my God!” This is the last thing a client wants to hear as their stylist rinses out their color.

Stylez then opened the door to the basin’s water supply, revealing the source of the flood: the pipe in the backwash had burst, causing water to pour out, wreaking havoc in the salon.

Stylez quickly shut the door as his client lifted her hair from the basin, careful not to move too quickly so she didn’t get wet.

The stylist sprang into action, turning off the shower head and grabbing some towels to start soaking up the water.

In a second video, Stylez gave more insight into what happened, saying: “I was so excited to see my client, and being that she’s one of my favorites, I wanted to make sure her experience is unforgettable, and boy, did I deliver.

“The next thing I knew I was in the year 3000, because we were living underwater,” Stylez added.

Luckily for his client, Stylez was able to take her to his friend’s suite to finish off the service, but the drama didn’t stop there as the second backwash began to spray water.

Thankfully it didn’t last long, and both Stylez and his client were able to see the funny side of the situation. Stylez said to his viewers: “I’m definitely going to be charging her extra for the entertainment.”

What Do the Comments Say?

Hair stylists who relate to the experience were quick to share their own stories in the comments, with one writing: “This happened at my school, we were all using the shampoo bowls and no one even noticed till I was finished and looked down at my feet. It wasn’t even my sink, it was the one being used next to me.”

Another, who wasn’t as lucky as Stylez, added: “My sink did this except it happened sometime between 2-4 am and we didn’t find out until 7 am. Flooded the whole building.”

A third shared: “This reminds me of a time I was doing a co-worker’s hair and when we started rinsing out her foils the toilet in the washroom started to back up and we low key ended up flooding a bit with toilet water.”

One viewer caught the client’s panic, commenting: “Not the ‘OMG’ [oh my god] while rinsing lightener. Her heart probably stopped for a sec.”
