Travis Kelce is causing controversy after “liking” an Instagram post featuring Donald Trump’s night out at UFC 99.
The post in question was uploaded by former ESPN host Sage Steele last month, but has recently resurfaced after fans began calling out Kelce’s engagement with the Instagram carousel.
Steele — who recently made headlines for confusing UFC president Dana White for UFC commentator/podcast host Joe Rogan — shared a series of photos and videos featuring herself shaking hands with Trump, as well as him having a ringside view of the match.
“What. A. Night. After years of covering @ufc at ESPN, I FINALLY got to see it live & in person. Game changer. THANK YOU @danawhite … for EVERYTHING! Great people, great event, great fights! (Check out the last video – it’s the final minute of the main card fight .. so intense!!!) 🇺🇸#ufc299,” she captioned the footage at the time.
Sage, for her part, already anticipated the backlash from her followers, ending her post by stating: “(Cue the divisive, close-minded thoughts and unfollows in 3…2…1… 😂) #diversityofthought.”
While it’s unclear if Kelce “liked” the post at the time — or the social media action was more recent — social media users, many of them Taylor Swift fans, began commenting on Kelce’s “like” on Sunday, April 14. (Kelce and Swift, for their part, were busy snuggling up while dancing at Coachella.)
Some fans were shocked about Kelce’s online interaction, questioning, “Not travis kelce liking a post with trump in it???” and commenting, “I wasn’t expecting travis kelce to be a trump supporter but here we are.”
Others claimed to have seen it coming.
“Travis kelce likes TRUMP?” one user wrote. “I wouldve never guessed this in a million years this is shocking news!! whats next? grass is green? the sun is a star???”

Another person commented: “Travis Kelce has liked a post on instagram praising Donald Trump. I always knew this man had MAGA energy but now we have proof.”
While others were curious about Swift’s reaction to the “like” — she has spoken out against Trump in the past — one fan pointed out that Kelce’s potential point of view isn’t a reflection of Swift’s.
“Quite disappointing,” the person tweeted. “But I will say I need people to not associate that with taylor’s views.”
Trump, meanwhile, commented on Swift and Kelce’s romance in September 2023, predicting their downfall.
“I wish the best for both of them. I hope they enjoy their life, maybe together, maybe not — most likely not,” he told the Daily Caller at the time.
