Singer-songwriter and music producer Jack Antonoff has taken aim at Kayne West after the rapper announced he was releasing an album on the same day as Antonoff’s band.

The lead singer of the Bleachers has collaborated with pop icons such as Taylor Swift, Lorde and Lana Del Rey alongside performing himself with the band who are releasing their new self-titled album on March 8, the same day the rapper, who now goes by Ye, is.

Ye is to drop part two of his Vultures trilogy with Ty Dolla Sign, with Antonoff taking to X, formerly Twitter, to call the “Gold Digger” hitmaker a “cry baby b****.”

Although not in direct competition with their music as they are different genres, an album launch on the same day may cause conflict for some listeners who are a fan of both, with Antonoff blasting Ye and laughing at his “hilarious” decision to release his album on the same date.

Antonoff posted on Wednesday: “Kanye on bleachers release date is hilarious little cry baby b****.”

When this article was published, his post had been viewed 2 million times by users of the app and secured over 1,000 comments, 40,000 likes, and over 8,000 reshares.

Pop culture account @PopBase shared a screenshot of the post with the caption: “Jack Antonoff reacts to Kanye West’s album release clashing with the Bleachers’ self-titled album,” which had been viewed over 3.8 million times when this article was published.

However, his message appeared to backfire, with multiple users commenting they did not know who the producer was.

“WHO TF IS JACK ANTONOFF,” an angered social media user blasted.

‘Who are you legit ???” another questioned, with someone cutting Antonoff with the remark: “No one knows you bro cut it out.”

Unsure who he or his band were, someone shared: “What the hell is a Bleachers.”

With his work on hit songs going unnoticed by users of X, an individual said: “Not a celebrity if no one knows who it is. I might as well release an album the same day and b**** about it.”

Antonoff produced Swift’s albums 1989, reputation, Lover, folklore and evermore, among working with other stars, helping them to achieve chart success.

In Antonoff’s corner, a social media user said: “JACK LMAO never change.”

“Literally I’ve never heard of this Kanye guy,” another jabbed, with a third adding: “Your tweets never disappoint.”

Others simply shared statements such as “Jack has more hits than Kanye.”

“Jack has produced more hits on the hot100 and has more AOTYs than Kanye ijbol [I just burst out laughing] Kanyevil is the khia,” someone echoed.

Khia, referenced by the urban dictionary, means “someone nobody knows or cares for.”

An unsure individual was impressed by his back catalogue of music: “Googled him to see who he is and found out he produced my favorite Lana songs.”

Swift and Ye have had beef in the past, stretching as far back as 2009 when he stormed the MTV VMAs stage to snatch the microphone out of her hands and declared Beyoncé should have won for Best Video by a Female Artist instead and not her.

Swift and Antonoff have been friends and collaborators since 2012, with him attending her birthday bash in December.

Newsweek contacted Jack Antonoff’s talent agent via email for comment.
