The Context

On Tuesday, Hughes’ family members spoke out about her disappearance as she has been missing since the late hours of February 22.

“I feel like she’s been kidnapped because it’s day five and I haven’t heard anything,” Hughes’ mother, Shannon Williams, told KPRC in Houston. “Anything could have happened, even though we’re going to pray for the best.”

Williams said she has been unable to eat or sleep while her daughter remains missing. She explained that she last saw her daughter on Thursday evening before going to bed. When she woke up on Friday, her daughter was missing.

“Everybody’s been pacing back and forth because this is not like her,” Williams said. “I feel like nothing is being done fast enough.”

“I just want my baby home,” Williams added.

According to KPRC, neighbors near Hughes’ home said that surveillance cameras caught a truck driving down her street, and a young girl is seen entering the vehicle. The truck is seen driving away and Williams said the vehicle did not look familiar. Hughes also does not currently have access to any ride-share applications like Uber, KPRC reported.

“I am past worry,” Williams said.
