For those feeling a little dusty after the Easter holiday and need a helping hand with today’s Wordle, never fear because Newsweek has come to the rescue.

The daily puzzle game resets at midnight in a person’s local time zone with a new five-letter word that you must guess in six attempts or less.

You begin by putting in the word you think it might be on the Wordle app or website, and then press enter to see your results. If you’re lucky and are the one in 250 people who guess the word on the first try, then you are done for the day.

A person plays “Wordle” on January 12, 2022 in New York City. Created by Josh Wardle, it is a five letter word guessing game that gives the user six tries to guess the word correctly…

However, a color-coded tile system will tell you what you got right and what you didn’t as the letters flip over to give you the results.

A green tile means the letter is correct, while yellow tells you the letter does appear in the word but is just in the wrong spot and finally, a gray tile shows that letter does not appear in the word at all.

Those hints help you to keep guessing the word through more attempts and a process of elimination.

The New York Times purchased the game in 2022 from creator Josh Wardle and it analyzed 515 million games of Wordle with some surprising results.

Take for example the fact that one in every 250 games is guessed on the first attempt, which cannot be explained purely by chance.

“This is much more often than you’d expect if you just left things to chance, although not necessarily every case is outright cheating,” explained authors Josh Katz and Aatish Bhatia for the NYT.

“Some may be using a new window to make additional guesses after failing to solve the puzzle in six tries. Some may be re-entering a solution they found on a different device to maintain a streak, or to test a technical issue. Others may have had the answer spoiled, or, yes, may have looked it up.”

If you need a hand solving today’s Wordle puzzle, Newsweek has assembled a few hints to help you out. But be warned, the answer appears at the end of this article, so scroll with caution.
