It’s time to test yourself with today’s Wordle but if you’re struggling, Newsweek is here to help you out.

Originally conceived in 2013, the popular brainteaser was created by New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle, who worked on completing development of the game as a way to entertain his crossword-loving partner during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Wanting others to enjoy the game during lockdown, Wardle decided to host Wordle on a public website. It experienced explosive growth after its October 2021 launch, going from 90 users on November 1 of that year to 300,000 on January 2, 2022.

The game proved to be such a success that The New York Times purchased it in January 2022 for an undisclosed low seven-figure fee—and it remains popular today.

“I get emails from people who say things like ‘Hey, we can’t see our parents due to Covid at the moment but we share our Wordle results each day,'” Wardle told The Guardian in January 2022. “During this weird situation it’s a way for people to connect in a low effort, low friction way.”

Wordle is still free and the game itself is still the same today. To play, a user must start by trying to guess the five-letter word of the day. A guess of the correct letter will cause that tile to turn green. The letter will become yellow if it appears in the word but not where the user has placed it. The tile will turn gray if the letter does not appear in the word at all.

Below are some helpful hints provided by Newsweek for today’s Wordle puzzle. Keep in mind that the answer will be revealed at the end of this article, so scroll down with caution if you want to solve it for yourself.
