It’s time to solve another Wordle puzzle, fortunately Newsweek is here to offer a helping hand if you are struggling with today’s answer.

Wordle was dreamed up by New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle as an activity that he and his partner could do during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The game quickly went on to establish a player base of millions following its release in October 2021. Its popularity led The New York Times to buy it for an undisclosed seven-figure sum in January 2022.

Part of the game’s success could be attributed to its simple gameplay loops. Each day, players try to solve a five-letter word in six attempts or fewer.

A color-coded tile system helps players solve the word. A green square tells you the correct letter is in the right place, yellow indicates the letter is in the answer but is in the incorrect spot, and a gray tile means the letter is not in the word at all.

Erhan Aslan, an expert in applied linguistics who teaches at the University of Reading in the U.K., provided some advice for Wordle players in a previous interview with Newsweek.

“One thing that I think is important in this game is the starting word chosen,” Aslan said. “Starting off with words that include commonly used vowels, for example, e and a, consonants such as r and t, and sound sequences might be helpful.”

“Choosing a word that starts with q, z, j, or x, for instance, may not be the best choice,” Aslan added. “As you get more feedback after a few guesses, users need to draw on some knowledge of phonics to narrow down or eliminate some words that they might be thinking.”

Newsweek has put together some tips to solve today’s answer, but be careful as the word appears further down, so scroll down with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
