Almost 1.5 million tonnes of products have been exported via the new alternative corridor, on which Ukraine commenced work after Russia withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.

We already see our first results – almost 1.5 million metric tons have been exported,” the minister stressed.
Details: Kubrakov added that 32.9 million tonnes of agricultural products were shipped to Africa, Asia and Europe between August 2022 and July 2023. The official said it is necessary to focus on export logistics to fulfil a larger volume.

Background: Russia has carried out 17 massive attacks on Ukraine since withdrawing from the grain deal, which has led to a 40% reduction in the Ukrainian ports’ export potential.
Ukraine managed to resume the operation of the Greater Odesa ports without third-party involvement, thanks to military preconditions, including the attack on a Russian landing ship in August (the three ports of the Greater Odesa are Odesa, Chornomorsk and Pivdennyi – ed.).
Ukraine opened registration for merchant ships and their owners to use temporary routes to and from Odesa ports after Russia unilaterally withdrew from the Black Sea Grain Initiative.
The first vessel to use the Ukrainian Black Sea corridor after Russia’s withdrawal from the grain initiative arrived in Istanbul, Türkiye, on 18 August.
