Different generations have different ways of going about their life, and an influencer finally put it all into perspective in a clip that has quickly gone viral on social media.

In the hilarious video, shared on TikTok in January, under the username katteryyna, the young woman compares the way different generations, from gen x to gen z take selfies, leaving the internet in stitches.

The clip, which comes with a caption that says: “how different generations take selfies,” starts off with the youngest generation, Gen Z, performing the “tube girl,” a new technique used by the youngsters, to film or photograph themselves while riding on a moving train.

Mocking a typical Gen Z reaction, the poster can be heard saying: “Ew they all look like I’m trying.”

Next up are millennials, the not so young anymore. In the shoes of a millennial, the poster initially takes a picture striking a cute smiley pose, before realizing it needed something more. She can be heard saying: “I don’t know I feel like I’m missing something. oh yes, hashtag, coffee first, responsibilities later!”

But the older the generations get the more hilarious the clip gets. Next in the clip are Gen X, who according to the poster post very basic pictures and descriptions without putting any effort into them.

Last but not least are the boomers, who according to the poster have no idea what’s going on! In this last part of the clip, the poster can be seen taking selfie of her forehead, as any typical parents or grandparent would, then struggling to upload it.

She can be heard saying: “What did I just do. hey? How do I make this my passport photo? for Facebook? Why did you get me this stupid phone?”

In the post description the woman added: “I just want the confidence of the boomer.”

But while the younger generations may be more technologically aware, the older ones still hold the upper hand financially. According to a graphic poster in 2023 by Statista, boomers own a 51.3 percent share of the total wealth in the United States, while Gen X owns a 25.7 percent share, and millennials only 9.3 percent.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 2.6 million views and 450,000 likes on the platform.

One user, spiderman, commented: “As someone with a Gen X mom that is 100% true.” And Diario de un anticomunista wrote: “I’m Gen Z but I take pics like a boomer.” AyahTheSapphoe added: “I started ironically taking pics like Gen X and now I can’t stop, someone help.”
