A golden retriever called Daisy has melted hearts on social media after getting caught multiple times stealing the cat’s kittens because she “wants to be their mama so bad.”

The heartwarming post, shared on TikTok on Sunday by @quartkneebayybee, shows Daisy picking up one of the small kittens and placing it on the mattress to cuddle with her, refusing to acknowledge that it is not her baby.

A caption shared along with the post read: “She keeps stealing Luna’s baby kittens… she wants to be their mama so bad!”

Science has confirmed that cats and dogs can live together without any issues when introduced properly. However, some dog breeds are more suited to living with cats.

As previously reported by the American Kennel Club, dogs that are more suited for living with cats include basset hounds, bulldogs, beagles, border collies, golden retrievers, and Labradors among others.

On the other hand, because of their hunting nature, dogs like terriers and hounds may not be the best match for your cat.

“Keep in mind that these are generalizations. Most dog breeds can live calmly with a cat if they are socialized as puppies and are trained to leave the cat alone. Teaching your dog a ‘leave it’ cue and a strong ‘stay’ can help keep the peace,” the AKC added.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 730,900 views and 67,000 likes on the platform.

One user, YessyBella, commented: “They look identical what do you mean!!!” Katie Lee said: “I am the lawyer representing this client…we plead not guilty.”

PegMoor added: “My German shepherd mix raised five kittens with their mom’s permission.”

Another user, marygeary80 wrote: “I had a dog that picked out a kitten as her “puppy” at 3 days old and the momma was like, yeah okay. lol.”

Tiff_crowe said: “Daisy said she doesn’t know how the baby got up there. She’s just as surprised as you are. And she’s not going to take the fall for it neither.”
