There’s nothing quite like a trip to grandma and grandpa’s house since it’s usually filled with treats and more lax rules than at home and one dog has shown that it isn’t just grandchildren who love spending time at their grandparents’ house.

For as long as Jessie could remember, her golden retriever Jack loved visiting Grandma as they shared a special bond. One can’t blame him either because a grandparent’s love is unmatched. And thanks to his obsession with Grandma, getting Jack to leave her house has always proven to be a headache for Jessie.

In an April 23 TikTok video posted to her account @jessie.lalande, Jessie highlights what Jack does to avoid getting in the car and going home. He plants himself in the grass, pretending he is invisible and avoiding eye contact. It’s his version of begging to stay.

The caption reads: “EVERY TIME. Somethin about grandma’s house….”

No matter how often they tell Jack to get into the car, he doesn’t budge. The only time he moves is to wag his tail when Grandma starts talking. He’s hoping her words are the approval he gets to stay a little bit longer.

“He’s almost 7, and since he was a pup he just does not wanna leave her,” Jessie told Newsweek via TikTok. “It used to be we had to pick him up and put him in the car, but now we can’t carry him—too heavy. Hence my exhausted ‘C’mon Jack’ in the video.'”

That’s an expression far too many dog owners know. As well as their dogs listen, there is always an instance or two where they like to push the limits, causing owners to beg and plead. And clearly, Jax uses that heaviness to his advantage. He knows they can’t carry him and he tries soaking up every last moment with his favorite human.

Viewer Reactions

The adorable TikTok clip quickly went viral with over 1.2 million views, 126,700 likes, and 940 comments. Jack clearly picked his side and viewers support his decision because let’s face it, nothing is better than grandma’s house.

“Jack has made his choice,” said a TikTok user.

A second commented: “Jack belongs to Grandma now. Accept the facts.”

Even the official TikTok account for Google chimed in: “Jack kindly requests more time on the Google Calendar with grandma.”
