A cat named Mickey has left the internet in stitches after his owner shared a clip of him resting peacefully after waking him up in the middle of the night with his shenanigans.

In the viral video, shared to Instagram in September by @mickeyandmort, the Bengal cat can be seen sleeping like an angel, with his belly up and a serene look on his face, as he lies on the couch next to his owner, who didn’t get to sleep as peacefully as him.

The hilarious post comes with a caption that says: “How Mickey sleeps knowing he woke me up at 4 am after he knocked off everything on my nightstand…”

“[Mickey] has a strong, independent personality and knows what he wants always. He’s very intelligent and some of my friends call him an evil genius. In that video, he’s about 3-4 months old and was obviously very sleepy!” the cat’s owner, Forrest, told Newsweek. “Interestingly, he’s probably only ever slept like that a few times so that’s not the norm. His brother Mort is a much bigger sleeper. Mickey is very high-strung with lots of energy and is always meowing to play or go outside!”

Mickey is seen sleeping peacefully, and is also seen with his brother. A cat’s way of sleeping peacefully after waking up his owner at night has gone viral.

If you own a cat you’re probably used to picking up stuff they knock on the floor all day, but why do our furbabies keep doing that? According to the Metropolitan Veterinary Center in Chicago, cats are natural-born hunters, and their prey instinct is a big contributor to this behavior.

“Let’s take that paperweight sitting on your desk. If that paperweight was a mouse, your cat needs to investigate it. She needs to bat it around to test it out and make sure it’s something of interest to eat,” the center’s website states.

The video quickly went viral on Instagram, receiving over 120,000 likes on the social media platform so far.
