With the average wedding now costing over $30,000 in the United States, most brides-to-be are also forking out hundreds and in some rare cases thousands of dollars on elaborate beauty treatments in the lead-up to their special days.

In a heartwarming display of friendship, and the internet’s current favorite phrase ‘girlhood’, one woman has saved on a pricey high-end manicure by having her best friends step in and do her nails during her partner’s surprise proposal.

The woman’s friend, who goes by @mvshelle on TikTok, shared a post to the platform that captured her and her group of female friends tending to the newly engaged woman’s nails minutes after her partner proposed.

“Girlhood moment equals, sis just got proposed to but she removed her nails unknowingly a few days before so we had emergency press-ons ready at the scene,” the TikToker said.

The post had been captioned: “Girlhood moment.”

Viewers watched along as the content creator and her group of friends filed and manicured the woman’s nails before going on to apply a set of neutral French-tipped acrylics to them.

Her friend bore both stunned and excited expressions when the phone camera turned to her while she squatted on the concrete pavement as her friends got her nails back in shape.

The beauty and lifestyle creator’s video has been viewed by more than 1.3 million TikTokers to date.

Since it had been shared to the social media platform on March 25 by @mvshelle, the TikTok post has been liked by over 159,000 users and commented on more than 20 times. A few viewers have questioned why the video’s creator and her friends jumped straight in with a set of fake nails.

One user, @brawlberry.shortcake, asked: “I’m confused, why does she need press-on nails because of getting engaged?”

“To take some beautiful pictures with her ring,” @mvshelle responded.

“My fiancé had press ons for me in case I didn’t have my nails done,” another user, @byeanca, added.

“Legit waiting for my proposal currently and have stick on nails in my purse at all times, I’m ready,” a third user, @imabanana769, shared.

A different TikToker, @elithiuh, wrote: “Women friends are awesome also the ring is so gorgeous! Congrats!”
