The cohosts of The View regret engaging in conspiracies about Kate Middleton following the announcement of her cancer diagnosis.In recent months, there has been an influx of speculation surrounding her health and well-being, with voices from various platforms offering their perspectives and opinions.

Kate’s recent absence from public view sparked widespread media speculation until she addressed the matter with a video statement released on Tuesday, March 19. That same morning before the announcement, hosts Sara Haines, Sunny Hostin, and Alyssa Farah Griffin delved into the conspiracy theories surrounding the royal family, including a detailed examination of the notorious manipulated photograph featuring Kate and her children. Upon learning the truth, the hosts openly expressed their remorse over their involvement.

“I’m guilty of having gotten into the fun of ‘Where’s Kate?’ and thinking it’s funny and sharing the memes and playing into that, and I forgot something fundamental that we all know: every person, whether they’re a princess, somebody in a high-privileged position, or just the person next to you, is dealing with personal struggles that we don’t know about. I send my love to her and strength to her,” Alyssa said on Monday, March 25.

Kate’s most recent public appearance dates back to Christmas Day, and she hasn’t been seen in public since her video statement. On January 17, Kensington Palace disclosed that Kate had undergone planned abdominal surgery, having been admitted to the hospital the day prior.

“The Princess of Wales appreciates the interest this statement will generate,” the announcement said. “She hopes that the public will understand her desire to maintain as much normality for her children as possible; and her wish that her personal medical information remains private.”

In her statement released on March 19, Kate revealed that during the scheduled abdominal surgery, surgeons discovered the presence of cancer. She further disclosed that she is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

On The View, Sara called Kate’s diagnosis a “heart-wrenching” development. “You just never know what someone is going through. I’ve always questioned the way the royal family handles women, whether it was Princess Diana or Fergie or Meghan Markle,” she continued. “I was not blaming Kate for what was going on, it really bothered me the way it was handled — whether it was my business or not could be debated.”

When The View hosts were discussing the conspiracy theories, Whoopi Goldberg stayed out of the conversation. From the get-go, she was against the talks of Kate. “You haven’t had this done to you,” Whoopi told her cohosts on the March 13 episode. “It’s our fault, because we bought into this. When you buy into this stuff, when they start doing it to your family or your kids, it’s not cute. It’s not fun, and it really irritates me.”

Ana called this “a teachable moment” and that she learned a specific lesson: “When Whoopi Goldberg tells me to mind my own damn business, I will mind my own damn business from now on.”
