A video of a woman’s “genius” way of keeping her online deliveries out of her husband’s sight has gone viral on TikTok.

The clip was posted by @karissastevens_ and has had over 982,000 views since it was first shared on October 12.

A message overlaid on the clip says: “POV [point of view]: Your husband installed a doorbell camera but your [Amazon] prime day packages start arriving.”

The footage shows a woman using scissors to cut around a sheet of paper, which later appears to be an image of the front yard of a home, as captured by the doorbell camera. The cut-out is later seen glued to a cardboard attached to a stand, which the woman places over the doorbell camera lens.

The video then shows her picking up various packages left off the front porch before flashing a thumbs-up back inside the home as the clip ends.

The woman in the latest viral clip is certainly not alone in her shopping indulgences. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the COVID-19 pandemic sparked a surge in e-commerce sales.

The bureau’s 2020 Annual Retail Trade Survey showed that e-commerce sales increased from $571.2 billion in 2019 to $815.4 billion in 2020, marking a 43 percent rise in the first year of the pandemic.

The results of a survey by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, published in October 2020, found that more than half of those surveyed “now shop online more frequently and rely on the internet more for news, health-related information and digital entertainment.”

A November 2022 study published in the Journal of Retailing and Consumer Services found that “the pandemic has induced a level shift into the long-term growth trend of the online retail sector…The more people are confined to residential areas, and the stricter government restrictions are, the more customers turn to online channels.”
