Nikki, 32, told Newsweek that she didn’t expect Ricky to be upset but still found his response heartwarming.
“Ricky’s reaction made me feel happy because instead of getting mad, he told me how beautiful I was,” she said. “When reacting this way, I believe it builds the trust we have today!”
Ricky, 31, said that his reaction was rooted in Nikki’s beauty—something he’s known for years.
“The moment I saw Nikki, she lit up the room, and 14 years later she is still doing the same thing,” he said. “She is the love of my life. I would be lying to myself if I thought someone else didn’t find her attractive.”
Ricky added that the stranger’s request for her phone number was likely a nice reminder to Nikki herself of her own beauty.
