Would you give up love for beauty? One woman from Los Angeles believes she may have to, as she doesn’t know how she’s “supposed to marry a man” when her morning ritual is so intense.

In a TikTok video that has received 13.9 million views and 1.5 million likes, Aurum Kashani, a student, demonstrated her morning skincare routine—an unflattering process that left viewers shocked at the lengths some people go to in the name of good skin.

Explaining her routine to Newsweek, Kashani said, “In this video, I’m doing a double mask method.” She added: “I then cover it all with a face gauze that acts as a barrier so I can use cyrosticks, which are filled with frozen gel and help to depuff my face and massage the mask in.

“Honestly, my favorite time of the day is my morning routine and nighttime routine. It’s such quality me time, and I personally find it super relaxing, and self-care to me will forever and always be more important than a man. That said, if he doesn’t mind me looking like a scary-movie character, then maybe I’ll do it on him too.”

To test how accepting a prospective match would be of her beauty routine, Kashani video-called her dad to see his reaction.

“I knew he would be mortified by the face mask since he knows nothing about skincare and doesn’t even really know what a face mask is,” Kashani said. “He said, ‘I’m scared’ and hung up, and I was dying laughing.

“I’ll always FaceTime everyone I know whenever I’m doing that mask because the reactions always kill me,” she added.

Unsurprisingly, the video of her at-home facial received a lot of attention online, and some of Kashani’s friends said they were unable to identify her behind the mask when they came across the video.

She said: “The last thing I expected was 14 million people seeing me looking like that. A bunch of my friends saw it and told me, ‘I didn’t even know that was you.’

“I usually would just post not expecting anyone but my friends to see, but I guess TikTok had other ideas for this one specific video.”

The viral video has received more than 10,000 comments, but not all have been positive.

“It’s also so crazy how people will literally hate on anything,” Kashani said. “This is a silly video of me doing a ‘scary’ face mask, and some people still managed to find a way to leave weird comments.”

What Do the Comments Say?

Some commenters expressed surprise at the “scary” face mask, with one user writing: “WHAT??? Never in my life have I seen anything like this.”

Another added, “I’m terrified.”

Others told Kashani her routine wouldn’t prevent her from marrying.

“I live with one [a man] you’ve just got to do it in the bathroom with the door locked preferably while he’s still sleeping,” one user wrote. “I go miles to keep an illusion.”

Another said: “I honestly think if a guy loves you he’s just gonna find this soooooo cute like you have nothing to worry about girl.”
