Everyone has their own strategy when playing Wordle but if your usual strategy is letting you down today, Newsweek is here to help.

The daily word puzzle was first invented in 2013 by New York-based software engineer Josh Wardle. He fine tuned the game for his partner who loved word puzzles and wanted to give her something to keep her entertained during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s really sweet,” Wardle’s partner, Palak Shah, told The New York Times. “This is definitely how Josh shows his love.”

Wardle then shared that love with the world and made the game public in 2021 where it became a global hit.

The premise of the game is simple enough. Every day, a new five-letter word appears on the website and app. Players have to guess that word in six attempts or less.

They’re helped out along the way with colored tiles. A green tile means you got the letter right, a yellow tile means that letter is in the word just in the wrong spot, and a gray tile means that letter is completely incorrect.

The New York Times bought the game for an undisclosed seven-figure sum in 2022 and provided some tips for best strategies.

“Your statistics board will show the number of games you played, your percentage of wins, your current streak and your longest streak,” wrote the New York Times. “Focus on the guess distribution. If you’re starting with the same word every time and it’s not panning out, kickoff tomorrow’s Wordle with a new word.”

We’ve put together some tips for today’s answer, but be warned, the solution appears later, so scroll down with caution if you want to work it out for yourself.
