Most dogs hate going to the vet, but one called Scotty has recently gone viral for begging his owner to take him, so he wouldn’t be separated from his sister.

In a clip shared on TikTok earlier in March under the username scottytheschnauzer, the dog can be seen shaking and whimpering as his owner explains to him why he can’t go with her and his sister, an elderly Maltese rescue called Ballerina.

She can be heard telling the mini schnauzer: “I have to take your sister to the vet. She’s going to be ok, you can’t come with us though, you can’t come with us, ok.”

The post comes with a caption that says: “Epic meltdown when I told him his sister is going to the vet.”

Followed by: “Nothing to see here folks, just a Schnauzer being a little dramatic. He was FINE. He got to go for a fun walk later. And his sister (which is actually my mom’s senior Maltese) is fine too.

“He just gets worried easily and I think he thought she was going somewhere fun without him. But SHE knew where she was going and that’s why she didn’t want to go.”

Dogs are often scared of vets because they associate them with pain and fear, but getting regular checkups is crucial for their health.

According to Preventive Vet, you can help your pups overcome their fear of the vet by making them familiar with the clinic, and rewarding them after their visit.

“Take your dog in for semi-regular visits to the vet’s office outside of scheduled appointments. While this is especially helpful for puppies during their socialization period, it can be beneficial for dogs of all ages,” the website says.

The video quickly went viral on social media, getting viewers from across TikTok. It has so far received over 257,600 views and 20,200 likes on the platform.
